PCB management and disposal projects aim to create fundamental capacities within government, institution and PCB owners for complying with the PCB-related obligations under the Stockholm Convention on POPs. The PCB management projects work through a stepwise process to enhance the understanding and capacities for sound PCB management. The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, which was adopted in 2001 and entered into force in 2004, is a global treaty whose purpose is to safeguard human health and the environment from highly harmful chemicals that persist in the environment and affect the well-being of humans as well as wildlife.
